Instagram app is one of the biggest social media networks today giving shape to contemporary connection, communication and culture. We’ll show you how to turn off the like count on Instagram posts in this guide: whether it be your posts or to hide likes completely on all the posts.

Rise of the Instagram app

Instagram was founded in 2010 and quickly gained an artistic learning community posting their photos. Facebook saw the potential early in 2012 and bought Instagram for a price that looks cheap considering its current success.

In 2018 Facebook founder Mosseri replaced as CEO the original Instagram creator Systrom. The first statement he made was that the Instagram app would not be a photo-sharing app anymore.

Videos, stories, and reel features turned Instagram into a large marketplace of ideas and commercial activity. It now has more than 1 billion active users and it looks like Instagram’s success isn’t slowing down any time soon.

A reality of Instagram posts

Despite the social media’s benefits in terms of proliferated connection and reduced distances, many studies find that it can have adverse effects on the mental health of its users.

Comparing your own Instagram posts to others’ posts, like counts, view counts, and beautiful and happy life standards can take a heavy toll on especially young people and how they perceive themselves and the world.

Many types of research indicate the connection between social media and depression and anxiety. There are even many suicide cases related to social media.

Hide likes on Instagram

Instagram recently introduced a new feature of hiding likes that can help ease some concerns about the dangers of the app.

One of the people in charge of the change claims that the feature is released to “depressurize people’s experience”. Many users report that seeing fewer Instagram likes and numbers did better their Instagram experience.

There are two places two hides like counts on Instagram posts: you can hide likes on your particular post so your genuine Instagram followers from 1394ta don’t see the total number and judge you accordingly. On the other hand, you can hide Instagram likes completely on other users’ posts as well.

Hide like and view counts on your own Instagram post

You may want to hide like and view counts on your Instagram posts for the reasons mentioned above or you may have your reasons. Either way, it’s quite simple to hide likes on your Instagram profile.

To hide likes on an old post

To hide likes on your post that you already posted, tap on your profile and select the specific post you want to hide like, and view counts from your posts section.

Tap on the three dots at the top right of the post. Select “Hide like count”. If it’s a video with view counts, you can simply tap “Hide like and view counts” for hiding view count as well.

Hiding likes while posting an Instagram post

You can hide Instagram likes while you’re posting individual posts. On the final page before you post a post, go to the “Advanced settings” section at the very bottom.

You’ll find a toggle button at the top called “Hide like and view counts”. Toggle that button on to hide the likes on your Instagram post as well as views.

To bring likes hidden back and to turn the countback on go back to the post you hid the like count from your account. Select “Unhide like counts on this post” or “Unhide like and view counts on this post”. This will turn on the like count and view count back on.

Other Advanced settings

The advanced settings section offers some more control over your posts. You can toggle on “Turn off commenting” to not allow your followers to leave comments on your post. Many famous people use this feature because of people who comment on inappropriate and hurtful things.

You can also toggle the “Share your posts to Facebook” button to share your post to Facebook. This works the same in stories as well.

That’s all you need to hide Instagram likes on your posts! You can hide all likes on Instagram, and other accounts as well.

Hide likes on Instagram completely

We’ve shown you how to hide likes on Instagram on your posts. If this isn’t enough and you want to judge all content for itself and not for its popularity, now there’s an option to hide all Instagram likes on all posts. Many find this update of the latest version useful.

Likes and followers are really important for many people and they are getting them from 1394ta but If you find yourself being affected too much by likes or views while you browse your Instagram feed if you find like count annoying and meaningless, if you want to focus on photos and videos themselves and not other people, if you Instagram to keep in touch with friends and not interested in what’s trending, you should decide to use the option to hide as it’s just for you.

How do restrict people?

Not just your own Instagram post but to hide like count on all posts: tap on your profile icon to go to your profile, tap on three black lines in the upper right corner, and tap settings.

From settings, hit privacy to go to privacy settings. Tap posts and at the top right you’ll find a toggle saying “Hide like and View Counts”. Turn that on.

This will allow you to not see like and view counts on all the posts: whether while you scroll your feed or while you browse others’ accounts.

You will no longer share your screen with other judging minds but only you and Instagram posts.

Other privacy settings you can use

If you have a problem with like and view count, you may have issues with other privacy settings on Instagram.

You may find it concerning that just anyone can search and come visit your profile or you may find it problematic that people can see your followers and follow your account.

Let’s move on to how you can make your private.

How to turn your account into private

After you hide likes on Instagram, you may decide to make your account visible to your followers and the people that you know to get 1394ta’s original Instagram likes from them.

When your account is private, only someone who follows you can see a post, leave a like or post a comment. People can’t just simply search and visit your profile as well; they’ll be greeted by a lock image indicating that the account is private. You won’t appear on explore feed as well.

To hide your posts and other information by turning your account private: go to settings, hit privacy, and at the top, you’ll see a toggle that says “Private account”. Toggle that on to make your profile private. This is as effective as hiding Instagram likes if you only have a small circle of followers who aren’t much judgmental.

How to Block or Restrict followers

If you have unwanted interactions with random users, Instagram’s recent restriction feature or the classic blocking feature can be useful for you. This is useful if you don’t want to turn your account private but have problems only with certain persons.

To restrict or block a person: search and find their profile, tap on three dots at the top right corner select “Block” or “Restrict”.

Restricting is less harsh

When you block people, you’ll disappear completely from each other on Instagram. This might cause problems if you know the person in real life.

Restriction, on the other hand, is less harsh, people you restricted can scroll and browse your posts, watch your stories and leave comments but you’ll not see any of them. It’s like you blocked them but they can still see you. You can choose to use this if you see it as a fitter.

You can also mute people you’re following if you find them too much but not annoying enough to unfollow or block.
