The ability of companies to know the customer is directly related to the possibilities of pleasing the target audience and increasing sales. After all, when a company knows what the consumer is looking for, it manages to direct offers and purchase conditions to better serve them. In every industry, brands that know their customers well already outperform competitors who don’t. In addition to being able to increase sales, they can develop more efficient strategies to retain their customers.

However, for this to be possible, managers must employ techniques and tools that make the collection and analysis of customer data possible. If you want to know how to get to know the customer, check out the 5 tips below to generate better results for your business!

1. Ask a lot to get to know the customer

If a company really wants to get to know its customers in depth, it needs to ask them questions. In addition, you must record and store all responses to be able to see the pain that your products can solve. Remember that supposing thoughts or characteristics of consumer behavior is not a safe method for retailers to generate results. Questions should be simple, assertive and outspoken. Some examples of them are: “How did you get to us?” or “In your opinion, what is the best form of payment?”.

2. Conduct surveys with your clientele

Your company still doesn’t know how to get to know the customer? Opinion polls and consumer surveys are great ways to gather information and data. There are several ways to conduct these customer surveys, online or offline. Companies can use the internet or questionnaires applied at points of sale. Surveys can be applied individually or in groups, and there are closed forums with clients that validate these surveys. Therefore, it is important to have tools or professionals to analyze this data. Specialized companies carry out this work reliably and accurately. For example, if you want to do a vote, you can buy IP votes.

3. Keep your customer data up to date

Many companies gather information in records about hundreds of customers but keep it out of date. Which leaves the final analysis inaccurate and leads to wrong decisions and strategies. Thus, changes are frequent in the profile and behavior of customers, so keeping the databases up to date is the best option. A great example of a situation that causes behavioral change in the client is economic crises. Therefore, this update of information to get to know the customer must be carried out periodically and systematically by the companies, with a previously established deadline.

4. Collect purchase history data to get to know the customer

There are technological tools available to smart retail that enable a rich collection of data about consumers. Such information is collected at different times, such as when purchasing or researching. In this way, each customer has a purchase history that is recorded in the shopkeeper’s hands. Some of these systems also bring together all the contacts made by each consumer by phone or email. If business managers want to know how to get to know the customer well, they must install efficient tools like these in their points of sale.

5. Pay attention to the behavior patterns of your clientele

Knowing the behavior patterns of customers is essential to generate good business results. Among these patterns are consumption desires and priorities in commercial transactions, such as price range or payment methods. By finding out what consumer patterns are, you’ll be more likely to leverage your sales. If the target audience is constantly looking for discounts, the brand may shift to focus on offering product discounts. However, you must also take into account the particularities of customers, as not everyone thinks alike. Thus, the segmentation of products and promotions can be an outlet to serve all or at least a wide range of consumers.
