More People Are Ditching Powders for Chewable Supplements

Supplements used to come in two basic forms: a pill to swallow or a powder to mix. Lately, a third option has been steadily taking up more shelf space, and more of people’s daily routines: the chewable.

It’s not just vitamins anymore. Protein, creatine, pre-workout formulas, and a growing list of other supplements are showing up in chewable form, and the format shift is big enough to show up in the numbers. The global chewable tablet market was valued at $42.3 billion in 2025, with vitamins and dietary supplements making up the largest share of that total.

Why the Format Is Catching On

The appeal is mostly about what chewables remove from the process. A traditional supplement powder means a shaker bottle, water, mixing, and cleanup, every single day, indefinitely. Skip a day because you left the shaker at the gym or there wasn’t water on hand, and the routine falls apart fast. A chewable removes nearly all of that friction: no mixing, no bottle to wash, nothing that requires being near a sink or a kitchen.

That convenience matters. Supplements only work if you take them consistently, and the research backing something like creatine or a daily multivitamin depends on regular, repeated use over weeks or months. A format that’s easier to stick with tends to outperform a “better” formula that keeps getting skipped simply because it was inconvenient that day.

Not Just for Kids Anymore

Chewable supplements used to carry a bit of a stigma, seen as something for children who couldn’t swallow pills, not a serious adult product. That’s shifted considerably in recent years. Adults now make up a large share of the chewable supplement market, reaching for the format not because they can’t take a pill, but because it’s simply less of a hassle to fit into a busy day.

Part of that shift also comes down to taste and texture. Early chewable and gummy supplements had a reputation for tasting artificial or leaving a chalky aftertaste, which kept plenty of adults reaching for a capsule instead. Manufacturers have invested heavily in flavor and texture over the past several years, closing that gap and making the format something people actually look forward to rather than tolerate.

Sports nutrition has followed the same pattern. GAT Sport, a brand long associated with powder-based pre-workout and protein products, has expanded into the category with its Creatine Chews and Pre-Workout Chews. Each Creatine Chew delivers 5 grams of creatine monohydrate, the standard dose most research is built around, with zero sugar and no powder or shaker required. The Pre-Workout Chews follow the same logic, offering 200 milligrams of caffeine per serving, adjustable in 50-milligram increments per chew, in a format that fits in a bag or a pocket rather than requiring a full mixing setup.

A Format Built Around Sticking With It

None of this changes what’s actually in the supplement. A gram of creatine is a gram of creatine, whether it comes from a scoop of powder or a chewable tablet. What changes is how likely someone is to take it every day, which, for most supplements, determines whether it makes an impact.

As more categories follow vitamins into chewable form, the format looks less like a niche convenience option and more like where a meaningful share of the supplement industry is heading. The product hasn’t changed. The odds of someone actually sticking with it have.
