In all honesty, television is great-and we’d even argue vital-year-round. Nevertheless, there’s got to be a reason why we’re all so excited about summer shows, especially sitcoms. The change of season, the indulging in wanderlust, and the energy-sucking temperatures make our nights in front of the TV seem like a destination, more of an experience. Some might say it’s just marketing, but summer blockbusters have always been one of the main reasons for kids to leave their neighborhood pools on scorching summer afternoons. Nevertheless, television programming really reaches its peak during the months of June, July, and August-as long as you know what you’re watching.

TV Shows To Watch With Your Family

It is now possible to create series tailored to the needs of different age groups while causing a chuckle fest, keeping parents sane, and offering a message. After all, no one wants to see a mother or father pacing in the corner after watching the ‘Baby Shark’ video one too many times. When you are feeling like binge-watching with your dear family, here are some suggestions!

If you are also looking for cable TV suggestions, we might help you with that as well because most of these shows are available on cable TV. If you want affordable cable TV deals, do not forget to check Optimum tv packages. You can thank us later.

Below are some of the best shows you can watch with your family this summer.

Heartland

Heartland is often the first TV series that comes up when you are searching for a family-friendly show. And for good reason.

A show that you can watch not just with your family, but with everyone in the house. Also, one that touches on a variety of hot-button issues from divorce to adoption and a whole lot more. Heartland is thus more than just entertaining; it is also educational. This makes it a great show for families.

A Canadian family lives on a ranch in Heartland, a drama about their lives.

The series focuses primarily on Amy Fleming played by Amber Marshall, who discovers that she has inherited her mother’s horse whispering talent after her mother’s tragic death.

We see Amy use this talent to help countless horses in the course of the show. Also, you can watch her live her life on a ranch where 4 generations of the Bartlett-Flemming-Morris-Borden family live.

One day At a Time

Also on our list of the top family-friendly TV shows is One Day at a Time, a show that definitely deserves its position. Several important topics are often discussed, such as immigration and PTSD, and it shows a Spanish family, which is rare in family-oriented television.

Penelope Alvarez played by Justina Machado and her family are the focus of One Day at a Time. After leaving her PTSD-suffering, alcoholic husband Victor payed by James Martinez, Penelope played by Isabella Gomez learns how to become a single parent to her two children Elena and Alex after she leaves her alcoholic husband Victor played by James Martinez.

Lydia played by Rita Moreno is Penelope’s Cuban mother who helps her out. Each of the 4 seasons of the series shows Penelope, Elena, Lydia, and Alex navigating life’s challenges to the best of their abilities.

Good Witch

The Hallmark Channel also offers Good Witch, a show based on a TV movie series named The Good Witch that you might want to watch with your whole family.

Since the two main characters are witches in the series, Good Witch will appeal to everyone who loves both hearty family TV shows and fantasy series.

As with the show’s predecessor movies, the story follows Cassie Nightingale played by Catherine Bell, who now has a teenage daughter named Grace played by Bailee Madison. In addition, she runs a bed and breakfast and her store.

The series follows Cassie as she develops a close relationship with Sam Radford (her new neighbor) played by James Denton and his son Nick played by Rhys Matthew Bond, ultimately even losing her heart to him.

When Calls the Heart

Another TV series aimed at families is the period drama When Calls the Heart on the Hallmark Channel. While it is set in the 1910s, it is still worth watching for the entire family and covers issues that are still relevant today.

Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow) is the main character in When Calls the Heart. Having received her first classroom assignment in the small Canadian coal town of Coal Valley, Elizabeth, a young teacher from a wealthy family, moves to Hope Valley, a small coal-mining town in Canada.

While watching the show, we see Elizabeth adjusting to life in such a small town. This includes learning how to be a teacher. She becomes friends with Abigail Stanton (Lori Loughlin), later elected mayor of the town. As well as falling in love with Royal North West Mounted Police Constable Jack Thornton played by Daniel Lissing.

The Middle

Frankie and Mike Hack, played by Patricia Heaton and Neil Flynn, were members of a middle-class family in the Midwestern United States. Brick, Axl, and Sue were their children. A lot of The Middle’s humor is rooted in the values and lifestyle of the family. The Heck family eccentricities bring big laughs to the show with its wholesome comedy level. People of all ages can enjoy it without getting bored or worried about overly adult humor. Comedy Central is the only place to watch this show. If you are a cable person and love to watch all your shows on the big screen, add this show to your favorites today. You can thank us alter.

Conclusion

Choosing the right TV shows can be tough and you will for sure agree to this, hence reading the post. But, not anymore because these are the bets shows you can find. We hope you found this article helpful. If you have more shows to add to the list, please drop them in the comments section below.
